Sandburg is proud to bring back the Watch D.O.G.S. Program

The Watch D.O.G.S program officially kicked off in January 2024!

What is Watch D.O.G.S?

The Watchdog Program, which stands for “Dads of Great Students”, is a nationally recognized program that encourages positive male role models, such as fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or father figures, to actively participate in our school community.

This involvement can make a significant impact on our students’ lives by providing additional support, mentorship, and a sense of belonging. Many school principals have reported that the mere presence of a Watch D.O.G.S. dad dramatically reduces reports of bullying.

We have had such a great response from volunteers, and we are so excited to see that so many dads have already signed up.

Watch for them at car drop-off, at recess on the playground and different events at school!

For anyone interested in becoming a Watch D.O.G.S. contact our Chair - Mike Connachan at mconnachan@winderemere.com for more information.

Speaker Event with Dr. Preeti Pental!

After polling our community for topics of interest to parents and caregivers, we were excited to share an amazing Community Speaker on February 22nd in the library and online via Zoom. Dr. Preeti Pental shared her extensive knowledge about childhood anxiety and the effects it has on our children.

Dr. Pental shared valuable information with our community, giving us tools and takeaways on this topic. If you missed Dr. Pental make sure you keep watching our monthly newsletter, The Scoop, and social media for any future Speaker Events.

We cannot thank Dr. Pental enough for taking the time to come speak to our community!
